JOIN THE NEW UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL NETWORK OF WOMEN WITH DISABILITIES
Women and girls with disabilities face many types of discrimination due to both their gender and their disability. As we move towards the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda, it is important that women and girls with disabilities are not left behind. Programmes and policy approaches on gender, disability and development must be strengthened at global, regional and national levels.
To this end, the United Nations agency for women (UN Women) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) are working to establish a global network of women with disabilities, including representatives of Government, UN agencies, academia, private sector, private foundations and other civil society organizations, including organizations of persons with disabilities.
The network will provide a common platform to share information, provide opportunities for joint activities and efforts to advance the rights of women and girls with disabilities in society and development. It also aims to strengthen the representation and voice of women and girls with disabilities, at all levels.
