Policy and Submissions

  • DPO Australia made a brief Submission to Senate Standing Committee Inquiry into the Need for Regulation of Mobility Scooters.DPO Australia made a
  • Submission to the Future of Supported Employment Consultation.WWDA is preparing a brief report on the findings from our survey of our members on access to health care. We received over 40 responses which was a great outcome! The report will be submitted to the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disability’s report on access to healthcare. WWDA is keen to continue using this format to engage with our members.
  • WWDA submitted an 18-month performance report and 6-month activity work plan to our funding body. These documents will be available to our members once they have been approved!
  • WWDA is waiting on the outcome of two tenders we have submitted for funding for key WWDA projects.
  • WWDA is working with our disability sector colleagues to start drafting a comprehensive shadow report on progress toward implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in Australia. Australia will be reviewed against the CRPD in 2019.WWDA is preparing a brief shadow report to the Committee for the Elimination of All Forms of Violence Against Women (CEDAW). Australia will be reviewed against CEDAW later this year.

Collaboration

  • WWDA continued to collaborate with our DPO Australia colleagues on priority issues of shared concern.
  • WWDA is working with 1800RESPECT and Medibank on two projects to improve the responsiveness of violence prevention measures to women and girls with disability.
  • WWDA is working with the Australian Human Rights Commission on a project related to key issues that affect people with disability.
