In December 2021, WWDA wrote to the Attorney General, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash and responded to the Australian Government Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights and Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee consultations on the Religious Discrimination Bill and related amendments.

While WWDA understands and agrees with supporting the right to religious expression, we hold deep concerns about the ability of the proposed bill to wind back important protections for women and girls with disability under existing federal, state and territory anti-discrimination legislation.

This letter is informed by our extensive research base on women, feminine identifying and non-binary people with disability, as well as feedback from our national membership.
