A new report from WWDA demonstrates that disability can significantly impact menstrual management, creating a cost burden for many people with disabilities who menstruate. The survey, which involved around 200 respondents with a diverse range of disabilities who were mainly NDIS participants, highlighted the need for specific products or support to manage menstruation.

Key recommendations from the report include:

  • NDIS funding should assist participants in managing the impacts of disability on menstruation.
  • Menstrual products should be included in the list of ‘assistive products for personal care’.
  • NDIS participants should receive greater clarity regarding their eligibility for funding for menstrual products.

The report’s findings emphasise the need for a more inclusive and equitable approach to menstrual health for all.
