Women with Disabilities Australia (WWDA) is proud to announce the release of the final report for the WWDA LEAD Project. This groundbreaking initiative, funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Social Services, spanned several years and focused on advancing leadership, capacity building, and advocacy for women, girls, and gender-diverse people with disabilities.
Key achievements of the project include developing a Leadership and Mentoring Toolkit, implementing mentoring and scholarship programs, and successfully delivering numerous peer networking and leadership development activities. The project had a significant impact, with over 86% of participants reporting improved self-esteem and leadership skills.
The report highlights the project’s two core streams: Individual Capacity Building, which offered leadership training and resources, and Organisational Capacity Building, which strengthened WWDA’s systems and operational effectiveness. It also provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities for supporting leadership among women and gender-diverse people with disabilities.
The WWDA LEAD Project has left a legacy by creating accessible resources and fostering community and empowerment. These outcomes will continue to support WWDA’s mission of promoting human rights and equality.
