Women with Disabilities Australia (WWDA), Women with Disabilities ACT (WWDACT), and Women with Disabilities Victoria (WDV) have jointly endorsed WWDA’s 2025 Federal Election Platform and 2025-26 Federal Budget Response. Together, we are calling for urgent reforms to address the intersection of gender and disability.
Our priorities include:
- Funding a disability-led gender-based violence working group to implement the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children.
- Expanding domestic violence definitions to include carer relationships and disability-specific abuse.
- Gender-responsive foundational supports for chronic health conditions disproportionately affecting women.
While the Federal Budget includes positive measures, it fails to address critical issues such as economic security, safety, and access to services for women and gender-diverse people with disabilities. We urge all levels of government to engage meaningfully with our organisations to ensure systemic reforms are implemented.
