Carers Australia – Short-term counselling and emotional and psychological support services for carers and their families in each state and territory. Call 1800 242 636.

QLife  – Australia’s first nationally-oriented counselling and referral service for LGBTI people. Australian Capital Territory (ACT)

Canberra Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC) – counselling, crisis appointments and advocacy appointments are available on the phone. A 24-hour callout service to police and forensic services is open for those wishing to report sexual assault. Call 02 6247 2525. 7am to 11pm, 7 days a week

Legal Aid ACT – Legal Aid ACT helps people in the ACT with their legal problems, especially people who are socially or economically disadvantaged. We can help in criminal law, family law and some civil law matters. Call 1300 654 314 Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 7pm, Friday 8.30am – 5pm.

Women’s Legal Centre ACT – Assists women who cannot afford a private lawyer and do not qualify for legal aid. Women’s Legal Centre can also help if you are having problems working with care and protection, or problems at work related to family or domestic violence. The centre’s Aboriginal Women’s Program is available if you need a yarn or a hand to make sure you’ve got the support you need.

Territory FACES – FACES is a telephone hotline that offers information about and referrals to support services throughout the whole of the NT. This service can be accessed by anyone in the community from parents and carers to professionals, who are seeking advice on resources and services that can help, support and empower families and children. New South Wales (NSW)

Queensland (QLD)

South Australia (SA)

Family Violence Counselling and Support Service – FVCSS offers professional and specialised services to assist children, young people and adults affected by family violence. Call 1800 608 122, available Weekdays 9am – midnight, and weekends and public holidays 4pm – midnight.

Parentline Tasmania – The Parent Line offers 24-hour information and support for parents throughout Tasmania. Call 1300 808 178.

Victoria (VIC)

Djirra – Aboriginal family violence prevention and legal service. Djirra will provide both telephone and face to face legal and non-legal support to Aboriginal people who are experiencing or have experienced family violence in Victoria. Call 1800 105 303

The Orange Door – A Victorian service, local support and safety hub for women, children, young people and families. Call 1800 319 353. Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

Women’s Information and Referral Exchange (WIRE) – WIRE is the only free generalist service in Victoria inclusive of women, non-binary and gender diverse people from all backgrounds and experiences. Western Australia (WA)

Grief and Loss Service – Support for people experiencing grief and loss. Call 08 8131 3400. Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm.
