2025 Federal Election Platform

Nothing about us without us!

Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) is calling for strong action in the upcoming election to advance the rights, safety and wellbeing of women and girls with disability. Our election platform focuses on key areas that will create meaningful change and address systemic barriers.

We’re advocating for:

Funding for a disability-led gender-based violence working group to guide the implementation of the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children.

Commitment to reforming legal definitions of ‘domestic and family violence’ to be disability-inclusive, in line with the recommendations of the Disability Royal Commission.
Commitment to establishing gender-responsive foundational supports for people with chronic health conditions.

Our platform sits within the context of our calls for broader, transformative reforms, including our recommendations throughout the Disability Royal Commission. WWDA urges policymakers and candidates to prioritise these critical reforms to build a safer, more inclusive future for women and girls with disabilities.
