The sexual abuse of girls and women with disabilities, particularly of those in institutions, continues in a culture of silence, invisibility and apathy. This document is WWDA’s brief Submission to the Australian Government in response to its invitation to comment on its Consultation Paper on the Establishment of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Given the short time frame for responses to the Consultation Paper [7 days], WWDA has taken this opportunity to highlight some key points for consideration in setting the scope and function of the Royal Commission.
