Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) is expanding Our Site, a website by and for women with disabilities.
As part of the expansion of Our Site, we will be including resources for professionals who work in gender based violence related fields to assist them when working with clients with a disability. In line with WWDA’s commitment to co-design, we want to hear from professionals about what it is that would be useful for you on the site. We will be running in-person workshops in Perth and Brisbane. We will also be conducting virtual engagements in other areas. The workshops with run for approximately 3 hours with morning tea supplied.
The main question we are asking is “what information would make it easier for you to work with clients with disabilities?”. For example, what funding may be available for accessibility upgrades, basics of how the NDIS works, how to ask about disability, or who can help when you are stuck. We also want to know – what do you want people with disabilities to know about your type of role? How would you explain to someone, who has never accessed your type of service, what you can do to help?
We will also be coming back in October to present what we have developed to see if it is what you expected. We have allowed time to make changes and want open and honest feedback in this second session.
We appreciate that everyone’s time is tight. If you are unable to attend a workshop but want to still have your say, we will be happy to chat virtually.
