As one of six diverse organisations funded under this program, WWDA joins a coalition advocating for the economic security, safety, and leadership of all women in Australia. We collaborate with policymakers to shape government initiatives that directly impact the lives of women with disabilities.

Neve is a safe and empowering space where you can connect, learn, and share your stories. We understand the unique challenges and triumphs of living with a disability, and we’ve created Neve, a space where everyone can feel safe, supported, and empowered.

Our Site

Our site was born from the passion and expertise of over 100 women with disabilities, all united in their mission to empower their community and champion the rights of women, girls and gender diverse people with disabilities.

Disability Royal Commission

The Disability Royal Commission, a groundbreaking inquiry into the violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation experienced by people with disabilities in Australia, has revealed systemic failures and called for transformative change. This landmark investigation, driven by years of advocacy from the disability community, has exposed the urgent need to protect the rights and dignity of people with disabilities. The Commission’s final report serves as a roadmap for creating a more inclusive, equitable and just society for all Australians.

Sunny

Sunny is a free app created by Women with Disabilities Australia (WWDA) and 1800RESPECT, specifically designed to empower women with disabilities who have experienced violence and abuse. Sunny provides a safe, accessible space to learn about different types of violence, understand your rights, and connect with support services.

NDIS Review

The NDIS Review, launched in October 2022 and concluded with a final report in 2023, was a comprehensive examination of Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The review aimed to gather insights from people with disabilities, their families and service providers, ultimately seeking to identify areas for improvement and restore trust and confidence in the NDIS.

United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) Review 2020

Australia’s commitment to upholding the rights of people with disabilities, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), is a cornerstone of its national policy. This commitment is primarily realized through the implementation of the National Disability Strategy, which serves as a comprehensive framework for promoting inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunity for all Australians with disabilities.

Reproductive Health for Young Persons with Disability

This resource designed in collaboration with young women, girls, and gender-diverse people with disabilities, will empower you with the knowledge and information you need to make informed decisions about your body and your reproductive health.

WWDA Human Rights Toolkit

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

As the leading voice for women, girls and gender diverse people with disabilities in Australia, WWDA has been instrumental in raising awareness of the unique challenges and disproportionate impacts faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We actively engaged with government and non-government organisations to ensure that the specific needs and experiences of our community were understood and addressed in policy and practice.
