Through its membership, WWDA identifies issues that are important to women with disabilities and undertakes work to advance the interests of women with disabilities on those issues. Sterilisation and reproductive health have been identified by WWDA members over several years as areas of concern.

In response to this, the organisation sought funding through the Commonwealth Office of the Status of Women to conduct a national project which would review the current status and developments in the area, both nationally and internationally, and integrate this, for the first time, with the perspectives and experiences of women with disabilities themselves. This report is the result of that project.
