WWDA Response to the Safe and responsible AI in Australia Discussion Paper

WWDA responded to the Safe and Responsible AI in Australia Discussion paper in 2023. The paper focuses on governance mechanisms to ensure AI is developed and used safely and responsibly in Australia.

WWDA commends the Government on its efforts to ensure that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in Australia is safe and responsible, and subject to robust governance. WWDA welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the discussion on how the use of artificial intelligence will impact how people with disability experience Australian public services. 

Our response discusses four key areas:

• Opportunities and challenges presented by AI 
• Responsible AI use in the public sector 
• Building AI literacy 
• Managing risks posed by AI 

It also includes 16 recommendations to the Australian Government.
