The National Women’s Alliances welcome the 2025-26 Federal Budget, which consolidates progress in advancing gender equality, women’s safety, and economic security. Investments in women’s health, childcare, and gender equality initiatives are steps in the right direction.
Key investments include:
- Landmark funding for women’s health, including endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics.
- $5 billion for childcare access and increased wages for childcare workers.
- Trials of Leaving Violence Programs run by Aboriginal Organisations in Broome, Darwin, and Dubbo.
While these measures are steps forward, systemic inequities remain unaddressed for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, CALD women, women with disabilities, and rural women.
We’re calling for:
- Superannuation on Carer Payments to ensure retirement security for unpaid carers.
- Increased income support to reduce poverty rates across Australia.
- Culturally safe and accessible healthcare that meets the needs of marginalised communities.
- Affordable housing options for women in all their diversity.
This budget lays a foundation, but inclusion must go beyond intent. Read the full response below.
